General

Tiles can be categorized into two major categories, including floor tiles which can be further distinguished by their individual properties which include their manufacturing materials, finish and texture.

Different compositions of these factors lend different properties to the tiles themselves. Thus in choosing tiles the purpose and area of installation of these tiles should be considered, to ensure the complete utilization of their properties.

The other category of tile includes wall tiles. They are in general softer than their floor counterparts, for easy installation of future wall fixtures such as picture frames etc. They are less resistant to heavy impact and thus suitable for wall installation only.

All these parameters should be taken into account during the selection process. While wall tiles are unsuitable for floor tiling, the durability of floor tiles make them perfectly suited as well.
